AN ANCIENT SENSE OF PLACE/ PERSISTENCE OF SPIRIT

Alchemical Images of Light and Color

As an artist interested in expressions of the sacred, I travel as a pilgrim, questing for true spirit, legend and memory, seeking unexpected alignments, remnants of balance, and clues to ancient wisdom. As a glass worker, I invite phantoms to appear surreptitiously out of a melding of glass color and shapes. Inspired by forms and profiles of ancient sanctuaries and prehistoric standing stones, I place cold, sharp glass in the kiln to be metamorphosed into soft, frozen liquid- a new, single entity.

Glass catches, holds, transforms, and then releases light. The surface appears to shift, tissue thin layers change color from within the solid and perspective flickers as we alter viewpoint, although the individual art piece itself remains still and constant.

Art glass offers a still pool to gaze our reflection.
